You have two primary legal obligations to ensure that operators of powered access platforms are properly trained:
- Work at Height Regulations 2005 mandate that those involved in work at height are “competent”
- Council Directive 2009/104/EC OJ L260/5 Article 9 states that workers given the task of using work equipment receive adequate training, including training on any risks which such use may entail
This means all employees required to use an access platform to work at height must receive the appropriate training beforehand.
